Holmes takes two matches in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. --- The No. 3 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up two wins here Friday and Sunday. Holmes defeated St. Louis, 8-0, on Friday and No. 17 Northeast, 2-0, on Sunday.

Holmes will begin MACCC play on Tuesday, Sept. 16 vs. Itawamba in Ridgeland at 1 p.m.

Versus Northeast today, the Lady Bulldogs scored two goals before halftime to hold on for a 2-0 win.

Emma Korhonen scored in the 10th minute on an assist from Mallory Sutton. Tyler Grace Sims scored on a penalty kick in the 40th minute.

Aly Vancor got the start in goal and had no saves. Lilly Callum played the final 45 minutes and had three saves.

Versus St. Louis on Friday, the Lady Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead at halftime. Kaylee Avant, Kate Gray Nesbit and Anna Beth Korhonen each had goals in the first half. Nesbit, Emma Korhonen and Avant also had assists.

Holmes scored five goals in the second half. Emma Korhonen, Maddie Caldwell, Nesbit, Adams and Avant each scored in the second half with Tyler Grace Sims, Mallory Sutton, Avant and Rosemaria Ibarra each having assists with Avant having two in the second half and three total for the game.

Callum got the start in goal and had three saves. Vancor played the final 45 minutes and had no saves.
