GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College women’s tennis team had two players sign national letters of intent with the Mississippi University for Women here this week. Lucy Oakes of French Camp and Hannah Thomas will continue their playing careers at the four-year university.
The Spring Semester Athletic Banquet was held Tuesday night in Frank Branch Coliseum recognizing athletes from men’s and women’s basketball, softball, tennis and cheer on their accomplishments in the classroom and on the athletic playing surface.
Holmes Community College, the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and the National Junior College Athletic Association recently announced academic honors for the 2015-16 athletes.
Holmes Community College sophomore tennis players Owen Taylor of Fayette, Ala. and Allie Furdge of Byram recently signed national letters of intent with Belhaven University.
The Holmes Community College Bulldogs got past the No. 8-ranked East Mississippi Community College Lions, 49-42, to remain at the top of the North Division standings.
The Holmes Community College Bulldogs racked up 568 total yards of total offense here Thursday night to knock off the No. 3 Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers to stay in first place in the North Division at 2-0.
