Lady Bulldogs knock off Lady Tigers in 2OT, 83-75

BOONEVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs used a huge double overtime period to pull out an 83-75 win here Wednesday night over the Northeast Mississippi Community College Lady Tigers.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-6 overall and 6-5 in the MACCC. Holmes will host Itawamba on Monday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs led 22-17 and 34-33 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs held a 50-44 lead after three periods before Northeast battled back to tie the game at 63 at the end of regulation. The game was tied at 68 at the end of the first overtime before the Lady Bulldogs took control in the second overtime to pull out the win.

In double overtime, Gabrielle Bunch put the Lady Bulldogs up 70-68. Jordyn Manning hit a free throw to put the Lady Bulldogs up by three, 71-68 before she hit two more free throws with 3:31 to put Holmes up 73-69. Sha'Toria Vigne hit a bucket with 2:55 to put Holmes up 75-69. Two Morgan Williams free throws and a bucket with 2:09 makes it 79-69. A Jamaya Redd bucket with 1:04 left made it 81-71 before Williams hit two more free throws with 10 seconds left to end Holmes' scoring.

Bunch led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points. Vigne finished with 16, Williams had 15 and Jalaceia Smith had 14. The Lady Bulldogs shot 43.2 percent from the floor (32-of-74) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (16-of-24).
