BOONEVILLE --- Northeast Mississippi Community College took advantage of a slow start to the second half from the Holmes Community College Bulldogs to turn Monday night's into the first division loss of the season for the Bulldogs, 55-54.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in the North Division. Holmes starts the second half of division play Thursday night at Northwest at 7 p.m.
Holmes led 34-27 at halftime and did not score until there was 11 minutes left in the second half. Northeast outscored the Bulldogs 28-20 in the second half to pull out the win.
Daryl Macon led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Cedric Harper had 15 and Torlorf Thomas had 12. Macon and Harper each had five rebounds in the contest.
