MERIDIAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs battled back from a 15-point deficit to put themselves into position to tie the game late here Thursday night but two threes at the buzzer misfired and Holmes fell to Meridian, 64-61.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 3-1 on the season. Holmes hosts Southern University at Shreveport tomorrow at 4 p.m. Holmes then travels to Pearl River on Monday at 5/7 p.m. and then returns home versus Hinds Thursday at 6/8 p.m.
Meridian led the Bulldogs 25-23 at halftime and then Meridian pulled away with 10 minutes to play to lead 54-39. Holmes then battled back late. Torlorf Thomas and Cedric Harper each had three pointers in the last five seconds to tie the game, but both were no good sealing the Meridian win.
Daryl Macon led the Bulldogs with 26 points while Marcus Washington had 12. Washington led the Bulldogs with six rebounds.
