WICHITA, kan. --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs' run in the 2025 NJCAA Division II Women's National Soccer Tournament came to a close here this afternoon after falling to Heartland, Ill., 2-1.
Holmes finished the season, 17-3, with a MACCC championship. The Lady Bulldogs competed in their fifth NJCAA semifinals in the last six national tournaments. Holmes defeated Rock Valley 3-0 on Sunday night and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, 1-0, on Tuesday night to advance to the semifinals. Heartland will play Northwest Mississippi Communiity College in the national championship on Saturday.
Heartland scorerd in the 16th minute to go up 1-0 and led at halftime.
Heartland scored again in the 77th minute to go up 2-0.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the 84th minute when Tyler Grace Sims sent a rebounded ball of the goalkeeper into the back of the net.
Holmes outshot Heartland, 18-4, and 7-3 in shots on goal in the contest.
Aly Vancor got the start in goal and gave up one goal and had two saves while Lilly Callum played the final 45 minutes and had one save and one goal against.
