Lady Bulldogs are headed to 6th NJCAA Division II Women's National Tournament
RIDGELAND --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs have been selected as an At-Large Team and the No. 4 seed and are headed to their sixth straight NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament (Nov. 16-22) in Wichita, Kansas at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex.
Holmes finished the season, 15-2 and No. 2 in the final regular season poll. The Lady Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed will play pool play games in Pool D against No. 9 seed Rock Valley and No. 5 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast on Nov. 16 and Nov. 18 at 5:45 p.m. central time.
Teams with automatic bids are UA Cossatot (Ark.), Rock Valley (Ill.), Sussex County (N.J.), Iowa Lakes (Iowa), Heartland (Ill.), Southern Union State (Ala.), Northwest (Miss.) and Pima (Ariz.). The at-large teams included Holmes (Miss.), Jones (Miss.), Mississippi Gulf Coast (Miss.) and Johnson County (Kan.).
Of the 12 teams in the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs have played four of them. Holmes defeated Southern Union State, 1-0, Northwest, 2-1, and Gulf Coast, 2-1 but split with Jones winning 2-1 and falling 2-1 in 2OTs in the Region finale.
The remaining pools include: Pool A, No. 1 Johnson County, No. 8 Jones and No. 12 UA Cossatot; Pool B, No. 2 Northwest, No. 7 Iowa Lakes and No. 11 Southern Union State; and Pool C, No. 3 Heartland, No. 6 Pima and No. 10 Sussex County.
Winners of each pool will advance to the semifinals. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. with the national championship on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
In the final regular season poll, nine of the teams particpating were ranked. Johnson County, No. 1, Holmes, No. 2, Northwest, No. 3, Heartland, No. 4, Gulf Coast, No. 5, Jones, No. 7, Rock Valley, No. 11, Pima, No. 13 and Iowa Lakes, No. 15. Sussex, UA Cossatot and Southern Union were unranked.

Past History in the Tournament
The 2020-21 season was the first season for a NJCAA Division II Tournament, and the Lady Bulldogs made an appearance in Evans, Ga. Holmes went 2-0 in pool play and then defeated Heartland, 2-1, in double OT before falling to Phoenix in the National Championship game.
In 2021-22, the Lady Bulldogs played two pool games and went 1-1 and were unable to advance to the semifinals. The tournament was held in Wichita, Kansas.
In 2022-23, the Lady Bulldogs went 1-0-1 in pool play and advanced to the semifinals on penalty kicks. Holmes defeated Jones, 2-1, in the semifinals before falling to Phoenix in the National Championship Game. The tournament was held in Tucson, Ariz.
In 2023-24, the Lady Bulldogs went 2-0 in pool play and fell to Jones in the semifinals. The tournament was held in Tucson, Ariz.
In 2024-25, the Lady Bulldogs went 2-0 in pool play and fell to Northwest in the semifinals. The tournament was held in Huntsville, Ala.
