Holmes falls to Jones in Region semifinal, 2-1, in 2OT

RIDGELAND --- The No. 2 ranked Holmes Lady Bulldogs fell here in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 23/Gulf South District Tournament to the No. 7 ranked Jones College Bobcats, 2-1, in double OT.

Holmes, the MACCC champion and tournament No. 1 seed, fell to 15-2 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs now await word on the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

Holmes took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Brooklyn Samonski scored. Jones answered in the 14th minute and the match was tied at halftime. Both teams had chances to score in the second half but were unable to. 

The match went to the first overtime, and neither team was able to score. Jones scored in the first minute of the second overall to pull out the win. Jones will play Northwest in the
