Holmes set to host the Region 23/Gulf South District Tournament at Freedom Ridge

RIDGELAND --- Holmes Community College is serving as host for the 2025 Region 23/Gulf South District Tournament on Wednesday and Friday. The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed on the women's side and Jones College is the No. 1 seed on the men's side.

The tournament games will be played at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. Tickets are $10 at the game. Cash and cards will be accepted. Remaining teams on the women's side include Northwest, Jones and Gulf Coast. Holmes is ranked No. 2, Northwest is No. 3, Gulf Coast is No. 5 and Jones is No. 7 in the final regular season poll of the year.

Remaining teams on the men's side include Pearl River, Hinds and Itawamba. Pearl River is ranked No. 8, Jones is No. 10, Hinds is No. 16 in the final regular season poll of the year. 

Quarterfinal results on the women's side included: Northwest 3, Itawamba 0; Jones 4, Pearl River 1; and Gulf Coast 2, Meridian 1. Quarterfinal results on the men's side included: Pearl River 3, Co-Lin 2; Itawamba 1, Gulf Coast 0; and Hinds 2, East Central 1.

The men will begin tournament play on Wednesday morning with the following schedule: Pearl River vs. Hinds, 11 a.m.; and No. 1 Jones and Itawamba at 1:30 p.m. The women will begin play at 4:30 p.m. with Gulf Coast and Northwest with Holmes and Jones to play at 7 p.m.

The finals will be on Friday with the men playing at 3:30 p.m. and the women at 7 p.m.
