Russell signs with Mississippi College

RIDGELAND --- Holmes Community College sophomore defender Abbi Russell signed a national letter of intent with the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws on Tuesday in Ridgeland.

Russell from Brandon played her high school career at Northwest Rankin. 

During the 2021 season, the Lady Bulldogs won their sixth straight North Division title and finished as the MACCC/Region XXIII runners-up. She had two goals and three assists this season. During her freshman year, the Lady Bulldogs won their fifth straight North Division title and their second straight MACCC/Region XXIII titles. They then made an incredible run in the first-ever NJCAA Division II Tournament finishing as national runner-up. 

The Lady Choctaws finished the 2021 season with a 12-4-2 record. Mississippi College fell to Florida Tech on PK's in the NCAA Division II Women's Tournment in Cleveland, Tenn. in late November.
