Thompson and Smith named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 22, 2021) -- United Soccer Coaches announced the 2020-21 Junior College Scholar All-America Teams on Tuesday. The lists include 15 men and 26 women recognized for excellence in both the classroom and on the field in the 2020-21 academic year.

Included on the team are sophomores Mackenzie Thompson of Pelahatchie and Laney Smith of Vicksburg. Thompson has a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in business while Smith is majoring in speech pathology and has a 4.0 GPA.

On the season, Thompson finished with one goal and 10 assists while Smith had five goals and three assists.

Thompson was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team and the NJCAA All-Region XXIII team while Smith was named to the All-MACCC Team. The Lady Bulldogs won the MACCC and Region XXIII titles and were the South District Champions. The Lady Bulldogs finished as the 2020-21 National Champion Runner-Up.
