Lady Bulldogs begin Region XXIII Tournament play Monday in Goodman

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs will go into the Region XXIII Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face the No. 11 seed Itawamba Community College Lady Indians on Monday night in Goodman.

Holmes finished the regular season at 15-10 overall and 7-7 in the MACCC while Itawamba finished the regular season 12-11 and 4-10 in the MACCC. The winner of the game will face Meridian on Wednesday in Meridian. You can watch the game tomorrow at holmesccmedia.com/white-channel.

Holmes is led in scoring by Ally Alford, who is averaging 14.1 points per game. Danielle Luckey averages 11.3 points per game while Darranya Wright averages 8.8 points per game, Amaijah Smith averages 8 points per game, McKinna Smith averages 7.2 points per game and Lanie Potter averages 6.8 points per game. Luckey brings in 7.9 rebounds per game while Wright brings in 5.3 and Alford and Potter each bring in 4.4 rebounds per game. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs are averaging 67 points per game and are shooting 37.2 percent from the floor, 28.5 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free-throw line.

Holmes is giving up 64.5 points per game.

Itawamba is led in scoring by Che'mya Carouthers, who is averaging 9.4 points per game. Shyla Golden scores 8.7 points per game while Makayla Rieves scores 7.2 points per game and Kimaya Dixon scores 6 points per game. The leading rebounder is Golden with 7.4 rebounds per game. As a team, Itawamba is averaging 61.9 points per game and is shooting 36.7 percent from the floor, 20.4 percent from the three-point line and 74.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Itawamba is giving up 59 points per game.
