Holmes defeats East Mississippi, 80-57

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs finished the North Division schedule off with a season sweep of the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions here tonight, 80-57.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 16-7 and 9-3 in the North Division. Holmes will participate in the MACJC State Tournament but it's still unclear whether the Lady Bulldogs will be the No. 1 seed or No. 2 seed. The women's bracket begins on Tuesday at Northwest.

Holmes led 19-9 after one period and 39-18 at halftime. East Mississippi outscored Holmes 21-19 in the third period before the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Lions in the fourth period 22-18 for the 23-point win.

Kamelia Lacy led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points while Nina Carpenter had 11 and Vaquela Pimpton, Aneisha Evans and Ja'Breonia Veasey each had 10. Carpenter finished with 13 points.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 43.3 percent from the floor, 41.2 percent from the three-point line and 60 percent from the free-throw line.
