Lady Bulldogs battle hard but fall to Lady Lions, 60-49

SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs fell behind early in Thursday night's game but battled back to within two points with 10 minutes to go, but East Mississippi finished strong for the 60-49 win in the North Division opener for both schools.

With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in the North. Holmes hosts Mississippi Delta on Monday night at 6 p.m. in their next North Division contest.

After East Mississippi jumped out to a 17-6 lead early in the contest, the Lady Bulldogs pulled within three points on a Carmesha Nalls three-pointer with 3:39 to play in the first half. East Mississippi led 30-21 at halftime.

In the second half, another three from Nalls brought the Lady Bulldogs to within six points at 32-26. A Lashonda Wilson bucket with 16 minutes to play brought the score to 32-28. The score was within two points with 10:20 left when Taylor Johnson scored from the baseball to make the score 37-35. East Mississippi led by 11 point with four minutes to go.

Nalls led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points while Brandi Carter followed with 11. Laricka Morgan led with eight rebounds while Carter had seven.
