Lady Bulldogs' season comes to an end in Region 23 Tournament
ELLISVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs' season came to an end here at Jones College in the Region 23 Tournament after falling to East Central, 5-4. Holmes defeated Itawamba in the opening game, 6-5, on Wednesday and fell to Jones later in the day, 9-1 to fall into the loser's bracket.
The Lady Bulldogs ended the season at 28-21.
Against East Central, Emmagail Kelley got the start. She went five innings and gave up three runs on six hits with one strikeout. Elleigh Willis came in the game in relief and went 1 1/3 innings and suffered the loss. She gave up two runs on five hits with one walk. Maycee Knight led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits including a double. Willis, Iris Farve, Neera Bell, McKayla Crowley and Katelynn Gipson each had a hit in the game.
Against Jones on Wednesday, Willis got the start and suffered the loss. She went four innings and gave up five runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Emmagail Kelley went one inning and had a strikeout. Neera Bell went 1/3 of an inning and gave up four runs on four hits with one strikeout and three walks. Lanie Phillips and McKayla Crowley each had a hit in the game.
Against Itawamba, Elleigh Willis got the start and went the entire eight innings. She gave up five runs on nine hits with one strikeout and one walk. McKayla Crowley led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits while Iris Farve, AnnaLeigh Jones and Maycee Knight each had two hits. Farve had a homerun while Lanie Phillips and Jones each had a double.
