Holmes will face Itawamba in Region opening round
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs will face the Itawamba Community College Indians in the first round of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament on Tuesday, May 9 at Jones College in Ellisville at 4 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the regular season, 27-19 and 15-13 in MACCC play while the Indians finished the regular season, 29-16 and 16-12, in the MACCC. Holmes and Itawamba squared off on March 15 and split the two contests. Itawamba won game one, 9-8, while Holmes won game, two, 7-2.
Leading pitchers for Holmes include: Neera Bell, 1.79 ERA, 2-2 on the season with 31 1/3 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts and 29 walks; Elleigh Willis, 2.22 ERA, 11-5 on the season with 113 2/3 innings pitched with 75 strikeouts and 40 walks; Kasandra Gaona, 3.96 ERA, 2-5 with 35 1/3 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts and 15 walks; and Emmagail Kelley, 4.20 ERA, 9-9 on the season with 108 1/3 innings pitched with 38 strikeouts and 20 walks.
