Taylor and Furdge sign with Belhaven University

Holmes Community College sophomore tennis players Owen Taylor of Fayette, Ala. and Allie Furdge of Byram recently signed national letters of intent with Belhaven University.

Taylor, who played both singles and doubles at Holmes, is proud to continue his playing career. "It means a lot to me to continue my playing career," Taylor said. "It's going to be a great experience for me."

He sees his dedication and hustle as his strengths. Another strongpoint is "giving everything I have every single day.

"I liked it here at Holmes," he added. "It's a great school. I met a lot of nice people and made a lot of friends and good memories. (Holmes) pushed me in the classroom, and Coach LeVert was really nice and gave me great experience on the tennis team."

Furdge, who played both singles and doubles, said "It's amazing. I can't imagine life without tennis so it means a lot to me. I expect to work hard. I'm extremely dedicated.

"If I could do it again, I'd do it the same," she said of Holmes. "It's been amazing. It's been a wonderful ride with a wonderful team. It's a great environment and wonderful people here."
