Bulldogs to face Bobcats in playoffs Tuesday

RIDGELAND --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs will head into the MACCC/Region XXIII playoffs as the North No. 3 seed and will face No. 10 ranked and South Division No. 2 seed Jones College Bobcats on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Ellisville.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the North while the Bobcats finished the regular season 9-3 overall and 7-3 in the South.

Leaders for the Bulldogs include: Rhybert McNab, sophomore midfielder from Long Beach, six goals and one assist; Andres Mendez, sophomore forward from Grenada, five goals and three assists; Jireh Green, freshman forward from Brandon, three goals; Darrell Grantham, sophomore midfielder from Pearl, two goals and one assist; Marcel Hopson, freshman midfielder from Ocean Springs, two goals and three assists; and Lando Nichols, sophomore midfielder from Chelsea, Ala., two goals and two assists. The Bulldogs are averaging 1.83 goals per match.

Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Stevens from Blacksburg, Va. has played 1,063 minutes in net and has 104 saves and has given up 27 goals. Stevens in ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA in saves.

Leaders for the Bobcats include: Chris Dempsey, sophomore forward from Belfast, Ireland, 7 goals and two assists; Adam Lynch, sophomore midfielder from Sligo, Ireland, 3 goals and four assists; John Mark Rose, sophomore midfielder from Flowood, 3 goals and three assists; and Itai Allen, sophomore forward from Wolverhampton, England, three goals and one assist. The Bobcats are averaging 2.45 goals per match.

Sophomore goalkeeper Peyton Wilbanks from Madison has played 922 minutes in net and has 48 saves and has given up 12 goals.
