SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs secured a spot in the MACCC/Region XXIII playoffs with a 7-1 win here Friday over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the North Division. The Bulldogs will face the Jones Bobcats on Tuesday in the MACCC/Region XXIII tournament at 6 p.m.
JIreh Green go the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the eighth minute on an unassisted goal. Marcel Hopson added an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. Lando Nichols scored in the 19th minute on an assist from Rhybert McNab. McNab then reeled off two goals of his own in the 20th and 31st minute on assists from Hopson and Nichols.
Northwest added a goal early in the second half. McNab added two more goals in the match in the second half in the 84th and 86th minutes on two assists from Kyle Kirtley.
Jordan Stevens had nine saves and gave up one goal in 70o minutes while Armando Barron played 20 minutes and had one save.
