Holmes uses strong second half to defeat the Northwest Rangers

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs battled back from 16 points down early in the second half to defeat the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers, 95-85.

Holmes improved to 13-2 and 2-0 in the MACCC and will play at Copiah-Lincoln on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Northwest led 55-43 at halftime, and the Bulldogs outscored the Rangers, 52-30, in the second half.

Markalon Rochell led the Bulldogs with 24 points while Trey Alexander added 19, Jhamien Smith had 12 and David Washington had 10. Washington led with seven rebounds while Smith had six.

Rochell score 18 points in the second half while Alexander added 12.

The Bulldogs shot 63.8 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from the three-point line.
