Bulldogs open MACCC play with an 87-61 over NE Tigers

BOONEVILLE --- Five Holmes Community College Bulldogs scored in double figures here Monday to propel the Bulldogs to an 87-61 win over the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers in the MACCC opener.

Holmes improved to 12-2 overall and 1-0 in the MACCC. Holmes hosts Northwest on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs led 40-34 at halftime and then outscored the Tigers, 47-27, in the second half for the win.

Trey Alexander led the Bulldogs with 24 points while David Washington followed with 21, Jhamien Smith had 14 and Emajai Horton and Markalon Rochell each had 11. Washington led with seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 55.9 percent from the floor in the game.

Against Lighthouse Christian Thursday, the Bulldogs fell 71-69. Rochell led with 14 points while Smith had 10. Rochell and Washington each had six rebounds.
