GOODMAN --- Holmes Community College sophomore guard Tyler Talley hit seven three-pointers and finished with 29 points to help lead the Bulldogs to an 81-66 win over the Southern University-Shreveport Jaguars here tonight.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 2-3 overall. Holmes will begin MACCC play on Thursday night at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at 6 p.m.
Holmes led 44-8 at halftime. Southern-Shreveport outscored the Bulldogs 38-37 in the second half, but the deficit was too great to overcome for the Jaguars.
Talley finished 11-of-19 shooting including 7-of-13 from three. Caleb Campbell had 14 points and Darrius Clark had 12. Brister led the Bulldogs in rebounds with nine.
Holmes shot 48.4 percent from the floor (30-of-62), 37 percent from three (10-of-27) and 78.6 percent from the free throw line (11-of-14).
