Higgins named MACCC Player of the Week

Holmes Community College sophomore guard Kaleb Higgins of Pine Bluff, Ark. has been named the MACCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his play last week in the Region XXIII Tournament.

Higgins helped lead the Bulldogs to the Region XXIII Tournament next Monday in Hutchinson, Kansas. Last week, the Bulldogs defeated Northeast, 81-56 in the finals; Pearl River, 61-58, the semifinals; and LSUE, 79-64, in the quarterfinals. Higgins leads the Bulldogs in scoring with a 19.9 per game average. In the Region XXIII Tournament games, he scored 23 vs. Gulf Coast in the second round, 18 vs. LSUE, 26 vs. Pearl River and 14 vs. Northeast in the championship game. Higgins shot 47.5 percent from the floor, 50 percent from three and 82.3 percent from the free throw line. He averaged 19.3 points in the three games.

He was named to the MACCC North Division First Team and MVP and was also named to the Region XXIII All-Tournament Team.
