Bulldogs pick up 52-21 win over Mississippi Delta Trojans

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs improved to 6-0 and 3-0 in the North Division here Thursday night with a 52-21 win over Mississippi Delta Community College.

The Bulldogs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in the first half when Chase Richardson found Malcolm Boykin on a 51-yard touchdown pass. Dan Lindsay's extra point was good, and Holmes led 7-0 with 12:40 left in the first.

Delta answered the score with 5:24 in the quarter to tie the game after the extra point was good.

The Bulldogs answered on their next drive as Richardson found Boykin again, this time from 36 yards out. Lindsay's kick was good, and Holmes led 14-7 with 2:11 left in the first.

Richardson scampered into the endzone with 12:36 left from 25 yards out. Lindsay's kick made it 21-7.

Holmes' final score came with nine seconds to go in the first half when Richardson found Cayden Burger from 21 yards out. Lindsay's kick was good putting Holmes up 28-7 at halftime.

Lindsay added a field goal with eight minutes to play in the third to put Holmes up 31-7.

Delta scored with 4:32 left in the quarter making the score 31-14 after the extra point.

Holmes added another score with 1:48 to play in the third when Rayshawn Hardy scored from a yard out. Lindsay's extra point was good making it 38-14.

In the fourth quarter, Charlie Fair found Easton Sartin from 43 yards out. Holmes led 45-14 after Lindsay's kick was good with 8:34 to play in the game.

Delta scored with 1:48 to play to make it 45-21 after the extra point was good.

The Bulldogs' final score came on the ensuing kickoff when Bishop Riley fielded the kick and raced in from 83 yards out. Lindsay's kick ended all scoring at 52-21.

Richardson finished 17-of-27 for 349 yards and three touchdowns. Boykin was the leading receiver with three catches for 119 yards while B.J. Johnson had three catches for 92 yards.

Riley led the Bulldogs with seven tackles while P.J. Pace had six and Dtrevion Parker, B.J. Mitchell and Montaine Bonner each had five.
