Bulldogs move to 1-1 with 41-37 win over the Warriors
DECATUR --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs gave Head Coach Marcus Wood his first victory as a community college head coach here Thursday over East Central, 41-37.

Pearl River got on the scoreboard first in the first quarter on a passing touchdown with 9:02 left in the quarter and led 7-0 after a made PAT.
The Bulldogs tied the game minutes later with 6:34 left in the first when Deriaun Townsend scored from three yards out. Will Carter's extra point was good.
East Central then scored again with 4:18 left in the first when the Warriors scored on another passing touchdown. The PAT was good, and EC led 14-7.
Holmes tied the game with 2:41 left in the quarter when A.J. Davis IV scored from three yards out. Carter's kick was good to tie the game at 14-14.
East Central went up 21-14 with 14:21 left in the second on a rushing touchdown. The PAT was good.
The Bulldogs tied the game with 8:45 left in the second on a nine-yard reception from Jahiem Shack from Philip Short. Carter's kick was good, and the game was tied going into halftime at 21.
Holmes went up 27-21 with 9:01 left in the third when Shack scored on a 24-yard run. Carter's extra point was no good.
East Central went up 28-27 when they answered right back on a 96-yard kickoff return with a made PAT.
The Warriors scored again with 5:04 left in the third on a three-yard passing touchdown. The PAT was no good, and EC led 34-27.
The Bulldogs tied the game at 34 with two seconds left in the third when Davis scored on an eight-yard pass from Short. Luke Moffett's extra point was good.
East Central took a 37-34 lead with 7:16 left to play on a field goal.
The Bulldogs answered with 3:59 to go when Short connected with Davis from 14 yards out. Moffett's kick was good.
Holmes had a strong defensive stand on the Warriors next drive capitalized by Reid Pulliam's interception at the Holmes 35. He returned it all the way to the Warriors' 10 before he was brought down. Holmes ran the clock out from that point to win the game.
Short was 27-of-36 for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Davis had nine catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns while Kerrick Ross had five catches for 71 yards. Joe Moss had 11 carries for 71 yards.
Celeycan Hill had eight tackles while Jodie Williams and Breon Jordan each had seven. Chris Walley had two tackles for loss while Jordan, Commondre Cole, Pulliam and Kabron Purifoy each had one TFL.
