Bulldogs pick up DH sweep of Northeast Tigers

BOONEVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up a DH sweep of the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers here Tuesday winning 11-10 and 4-3.

Holmes will play Southwest at 2/4 p.m. on Friday in Goodman.

In game one, Ethan Trimble got the start and pitched four innings and picked up a no decision. Jude Stringer also pitched 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Holton Hartzog who went 1 2/3 innings and picked up the win.

Amari Conley led with three hits including two doubles while Hunter Azemar, Sam Roy and Jacob Lott each had two hits. Roy had a two-run homer in the game.

In the top of the ninth, Xavier Myles flew out to right field driving in Conley from third to put the Bulldogs up 11-10. The Tigers grounded out before Hartzog picked up a strikeout. The Tigers grounded out to Landon Wallace to end the game.

In game two, John Paul Buckner got the start and went five innings before giving way to Carson Moon. Moon went two innings and had a walk and a strikeout to pick up the win.

In the top of the seventh, Azemar hit a solo homerun to put the Bulldogs up 4-3. The Tigers flew out twice and grounded out to end the game.

Azemar had the homerun while Will McClure added a double.
