Holmes and Gulf Coast split DH in Perkinston
PERKINSTON --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games here Friday with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs winning 3-1 in game one and falling 7-2 in game two.
Holmes will play Northeast in Vicksburg at Sports Force Parks at 2/5 p.m. on Monday.
In game one, Matthew Koch went all nine innings and picked up the win. He gave up one run on six hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk. Evan Scott led the Bulldogs with two including a two-run homerun. Carson Buckner added a solo shot for the Bulldogs.
In game two, Brody Wilkins got the start and suffered the loss. He went 4 1/3 innings and gave up six runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Jake McKay went 1 2/3 innings and gave up one run on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Cole Drake led the Bulldogs with two hits. Ethan Parmegiani had a double.
On Tuesday, April 12, the Bulldogs fell to Northwest 12-0 and 18-3.
Eric Gibbs suffered the loss. Heath McBride also pitched in game one. Abbott Hankins had two hits.
In game two, Jake McKay suffered the loss. Justin Jenkins, Will Cook and Jackson Dollar also pitched in the game. Drake and Buckner had homeruns in game two.
On Saturday, April 9, the Bulldogs fell twice to Pearl River 12-11 in nine innings and 11-0 in game two.
In game one, Jackson Dollar suffered the loss. Matthew Koch and Jaden Clinton also pitched in game one. Reese Smith led the Bulldogs with three hits including a homerun and a double. Kenneth Moore and Carson Buckner each had two hits with Moore adding a homerun and Buckner adding a double. Drake added a homerun while Evan Scott had a double.
In game two, Wilkins suffered the loss. Jenkins also pitched in game two. Buckner had a double in game two.
