Bulldogs split with Miss. Delta to open the season

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs started the 2021 campaign with a season-opening split with Mississippi Delta Community College here Friday, winning game one, 11-9, and falling, 14-2, in game two.

The Bulldogs are set to host Northeast Mississippi Community College in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

In game one, Matthew Koch got the start but had a no decision. He went four innings and gave up seen runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Parker Wood relieved Koch and picked up the win. He went two innings and gave up three runs on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks. Heath McBride got the save in one inning of work. He gave up one walk and gave up one hit.

Austin Telano, Darian Duhon and Logan Toups each had two hits with Toups adding a double. Kenneth Moore had a three-run homerun while Alex Frillman added a solo homer. Dalton Luke and Cole Drake each tripled in the game.

In game two, Dillon Spears got the start and went 1/3 of an inning. He gave up six runs on three hits. Charlie Lott went 1 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on two hits while Cade Cade Johnson went two innings and gave up four runs on three hits while Brody Wilkins went one inning and gave up three hits.

Frillman led the Bulldogs with two hits. Duhon and Moore each added a double.
