Avant, Purifoy named Holmes' Players of the Week

GOODMAN --- Holmes Community College freshman midfielder Kaylee Avant on the women's soccer team and sophomore defensive end Kabron Purifoy on the football team have been named Holmes Community College Players of the Week following their play last week.

Avant, a Newton County product from Decatur, scored two goals and had two assists for the Lady Bulldogs in matches with Itawamba and Southwest. Holmes defeated Itawamba, 4-0, and Southwest, 5-0. Holmes, now 9-2, travels to Pearl River on Friday. 

Purifoy, a Tate High product from Pensacola, blocked a punt and had an interception early to set the tone for the Bulldogs in their 35-22 win over Jones Thursday in Goodman. Holmes is off this week before returning to action vs. Delta on Oct. 10.
