Bulldogs begin preseason practice for 2012-13

Eight players from the 2011-12 Holmes Community College Bulldog basketball team, which finished 17-9 overall and 8-4 in the North Division making an appearance in the postseason, return for the 2012-13 campaign.

Returning members include: Daniel Francis, guard and Daveon Slaughter, forward, both of Jackson; Kenitric Gillum, guard and Demarcus Lewis, forward, both of Canton; Kelvin Smith, center, Tchula; Donnell Nicholas, guard, Gulfport; Torrance Rowe, guard, of Atlanta; and DeAndre Scott, guard, of Yazoo City.

Newcomers are Patrick Banks, forward, of Jackson; Cody James, forward, and Travis Johnson, guard, both of Durant; Wade Lee, guard, of Amory; Okoye Riley, guard, Macon, Ga.; Enitial Rucker, guard, Newport, Ark.; and Tamarcio Wilson, guard, of Tchula.

The Bulldogs made both the MACJC and the Region XXIII Tournaments last season. The Bulldogs defeated Hinds in the oepning game of the MACJC State Tournament before falling in a heartbreaker to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in overtime in the semis. The Bulldogs fell to Pearl River Community College in the opening round of the Region XXIII Tournament at Mississippi College.

The Bulldogs open the 2012-13 campaign on Nov. 1 versus Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
