Five Bulldogs head to four-year schools
Five Holmes Community College Bulldogs have signed with four-year schools following the 2013 season.
Jordan Taylor, Steven Blanchard, Brennan Marque, Josh Crowder and Carl Brice all will suit up for new schools next season. Taylor, Blanchard and Marque will all continue as Bulldogs as they take their talents to Louisiana Tech University while Crowder heads to Blue Mountain and Brice to Grambling.
Taylor, a sophomore infielder from McComb, played infield for the Bulldogs and led Holmes in hitting with a .388 average. He had 40 hits including one homerun, two doubles and three triples with 19 RBI. Blanchard, a sophomore outfielder/pitcher from Lafayette, La., batted .328. He had 41 hits including one homerun, 10 doubles and two triples with 25 RBI. He also went 4-4 on the mound with a 3.34 ERA striking out 47 and walking 28. Marque, a sophomore pitcher from Mandeville, La., finished the season 0-7 with a 4.64 ERA. He struck out 44 and walked 24. Crowder, a sophomore infielder from Flora, finished the season with a .354 batting average. He had 45 hits including three doubles and one triple with 22 RBI. Brice, a sophomore pitcher from Jackson, went 1-1 on the season with a 6.60 ERA with 14 strikeouts and 15 walks.
