Browning moves up to Advanced Rookie League
BLUEFIELD, W.V. --- Former Holmes Community College Bulldog Wil Browning made a move here Thursday to the Bluefield, West Virginina Blue Jays in the Advanced Rookie League. Browning signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays last month and reported to Florida.
Browning, who played at the Louisiana Monroe for the last few years, started out in the Gulf Coast League for the Toronto Blue Jays with the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays. Browning appeared in seven games and pitched 6.2 innings before moving up to the advanced league.
He gave up two hits, one run, one walked and struck out 12 batters.
Browning said he proud to be advancing, but he's not worrying about how fast it takes him to advance to each level. "I'm going to do my best at what level I'm at," Browning said. "I can't look to far into the future. I've got to the best job wherever I am."
