Murphy named Goalkeeper of the Week

RIDGELAND --- Holmes Community College freshman goalkeeper Karly Murphy of Brandon has been named the MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week for women's soccer after her play last weekend in the Region 23/Gulf South District Tournament at Jones College.

Murphy and the Lady Bulldogs defeated Pearl River on Friday and won on penalty kicks on Sunday against Northwest to claim the title. The Lady Bulldogs will be traveling to Tucson, Ariz. this coming weekend to begin play in the NJCAA Division II Women's Tournament.

She had 11 saves and gave up one goal in 110 minutes of play.

She'll be considered for the NJCAA National Player of the Week award on Wednesday.
