DECATUR --- Holmes Community College Lady Bulldog freshman Vonkesha Miller scored 17 points and Jamieca Sheriff added 14 points but it wasn't enough as the East Central Community College Lady Warriors pulled out the 76-63 win here Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs went to 0-1 on the season. Holmes hosts Baton Rouge Community College, La. on Monday night at 6 p.m. The game can be watched live at holmesathletics.ihigh.com.
East Central led 21-16 with 7:16 left in the first half and 36-32 at halftime. East Central increased the lead to 10 points with 16 minutes to go in the game.
Miller shot 50 percent from the floor on 8-of-16 shooting and was 1-of-3 from the free throw line. Sheriff was 6-of-8 from the floor and hit 2-of-3 from the free throw line.
