Lady Bulldogs open the season on Feb. 4 at home vs. Southwest/Marion, Ala.

The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldog softball team has eight returners to this year's squad. The team will rely on the returners plus a lot of new faces to return to the postseason.

The Lady Bulldogs, who went 16-24-1 overall and 10-18 in the MACJC last season, return: Regan Huckaby, outfielder, Pontotoc; Micah Redd, outfielder, Brookhaven; Bayle Bryant, outfielder, Sherman; Whitney Walker, infielder, Mendenhall; Karley Poindexter, pitcher/infielder, Mangham, La.; Torey Daniels, infielder, Vicksburg; Tara Grantham, infielder, Grenada; and Kayla Gilmore, infielder, Natchez.

Daniels is the leading returning hitter for the Lady Bulldogs. She batted .374 last season with 43 hits including 11 doubles, four triples and 20 RBI. Redd batted .310 with 36 hits including one double and 13 RBI.

Poindexter appeared in 16 games last season on the mound and finished with an ERA of 4.49 while Redd appeared in five games with an ERA of 2.33. 

Newcomers are: Madison Womble, infielder, Carrollton; Avery Thornton, infielder, Carrollton; Kaylee Ables, outfielder, Kosciusko; Jana Newell, catcher/infielder, Ridgeland; Juliet Warriner, pitcher, Brandon; Abby Bouslay, infielder, Brandon; Madison Fields, outfielder, Raleigh; Kaitlyn Warren, pitcher, Magee; Olivia Wilson, infielder, Ridgeland; Emily Littlejohn, outfielder, Eupora; Madison Frazier, pitcher/infielder, Jackson; Jasmine Cox, catcher, Pierre Part, La.; Courtney Hatcher, infielder, Eupora; Lexi Blackwell, catcher, Olla, La.; Meghan Cumming, pitcher, Ball, La.; and Becca Kennedy, outfielder, Magee.
