Lady Bulldogs, Lady Lions split doubleheader Wednesday

SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs remained even in the North Division here after splitting two games with the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions. East won game one, 9-3, and the Lady Bulldogs won the nightcap, 5-3.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs moved to 8-20 overall and 5-5 overall in the North. Holmes hosts Coahoma on Thursday at 2 and 4 p.m. in a doubleheader.

In game one, Kelsey Marter suffered the loss giving up six runs on 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings. Charneissa Gordon, Kaitlyn Hicks and Katherine Pennington each had two hits in the game. Karina Brown, Keana Wash and Samantha Meadows each had one hit with Meadows and Wash adding a double.

In game two, Katie Johnston pitched the entire game giving up three runs on nine hits striking out four and walking two. Wash, Meadows, Pennington and Marter each had two hits with Marter adding a double. Gordon, Hicks, Victoria Hunt and Jadie Laufenberg each had a hit with Laufenberg having  double.
