Game with East Mississippi halted with six minutes to play due to slippery floor

SCOOBA --- The North Division tilt with East Mississippi here Thursday lived up to hype but the only problem is that there was no clear winner because the game was called with 6:17 left to play due to slippery floor conditions.

Holmes freshman point guard Jarvis Williams wiped out in the first half which gave an indication the floor may be slippery, but little did either team know at that time the game would not be finished until Williams slipped again in the second half even more violently and the game was constantly stopped to wipe the wet floor due to an 84 percent humidity in Scooba.

East Mississippi held a small lead to open the game. A Tamarico Wilson bucket with 16:03 gave the Bulldogs their first lead at 8-7. Travis Johnson added another bucket to put the Bulldogs up 10-7 with 15:40 to play. East Mississippi then took a 12-11 lead on an Avery Woodson three-pointer with 14:55 to play. The Lions increased the lead to eight points with nine minutes to play when Devonta Pollard hit two free throws.

Holmes then began battling back and tied the game at 33 when Thomas Alexander scored a two-point bucket with 1:53 to play. Justin McCleary then gave the Bulldogs the lead at 35-3 with 1:10 to play before Mobley hit a bucket with two seconds left in the half to time game at 35.

The Bulldogs controlled the game early in the second half after Wilson hit a two-point bucket with 19:30 to play. The lead grew to eight points at 47-39 when Williams scored on a jumper.

East Mississippi then went on a 10-0 run to take a 51-49 lead with 7:12 left to play. Play was halted a minute later. The coaches decided to make the remaining part of the game up later in the season but no date has been decided at this point.
