Bulldogs go to 6-2 overall; head to division play Thursday night
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up an impressive 84-73 win here Monday night over the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears to improve to 6-2 overall before they begin North Division play on Thursday at East Mississippi Community College.
Holmes jumped out to an early lead in the first half and held a 40-34 lead at halftime. Thomas Alexander had four impressive slam dunks in the first half and Justin McCleary hit three of his seven three-pointers in the first half to give Holmes the momentum.
McCleary added four more three-pointers in the second half and Patrick Banks added 10 points with Jarvis Williams' eight to help the Bulldogs pull away. The Bulldogs held a 17-point lead 80-63 late in the game.
McCleary led the Bulldogs with 21 points while Williams, Banks and Ondarious Hamlin each had 12 points. Tamarico Wilson had eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.
