Thirty-seven athletes named to NJCAA All-Academic Team
The NJCAA has announced the 2023-24 All-Academic Teams recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom. A total of 12,245 student-athletes have been honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60. Holmes Community College placed 37 athletes on the 2023-24 team.
Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:
- NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
- NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
- NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
The list broke down as follows: 3,424 student-athletes garnered NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors after achieving a 4.0 GPA; 4,013 student-athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team while 4,808 student-athletes received third-team recognition.
NJCAA Academic Awards (first team, 4.0 GPA; second team, 3.8-3.99 GPA; and third team, 3.6-3.79 GPA) for 2023-24 include: First Team – Cole Moudy, Landon Wallace, baseball; Zakarie McDonald, men's basketball; Jaishun Bell and Colton DeShazo, football; Caleb Jones, men's soccer; Lillian Harvey, women's soccer; and Jordan Leech, men's tennis; Second Team – Wil'Tavious Williams, John Ford, Ryan Wood and Nyjal Johnson, football; Walker Long, baseball; Patrick Vallean, men's soccer; Jade Fleming, Carmen Mason, Christina Guzman and Grace Mason, women's soccer; and Charlee Rose Tierce, softball; Third Team – Karly Murphy and Stevie Kerns, women's soccer; Dominic Simpkins, men's basketball; Meg Glasgow, Jadyn Miles, Lizzy Carpenter and Gracie Boland, softball; Jalon Townes, Calvin McMillian, Lonnie Ratliff and Deriaun Townsend, football; Arly Medina-Ramirez, Ethan Hunt and Gavin Parker, men's soccer; Bella Roberts, women's basketball; and John Paul Buckner, Aidan Bellman and Holton Hartzog, baseball.
Team nominations for NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year included softball for their 3.24 GPA.
