The MACJC State Tournament field at Jones College has been set for this weekend which includes the No. 10 ranked Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs as the North Division's No. 1 seed.
The Lady Bulldogs, 15-0, are set to take on the South Division's No. 2 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs, 7-6-1, in the semifinals at noon Saturday. Holmes defeated Gulf Coast, 4-3, in overtime on Sept. 18 during the regular season. Gulf Coast defeated Hinds Thursday night, 1-0, in Perkinston in a quarterfinal match to advance to the semifinals.
The other semifinal features the South's No. 1 seed Jones College Lady Bobcats vs. the South No. 3 seed Pearl River Community College Lady Wildcats. Pearl River defeated Itawamba, 2-1, Thursday afternoon in Fulton to advance to the semifinals.
On the men's side, the field includes the South's No. 1 seed Pearl River Wildcats vs. the South's No. 3 seed Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears, who defeated Hinds 3-0 on Thursday in Raymond, to advance to the semifinals. The other semifinal features the North's No. 1 seed Itawamba Community College Indians vs. the South's No. 2 seed Jones Bobcats, who knocked off the Holmes Bulldogs, 7-0, Thursday night in Ellisville.
The women's championship is set for 5 p.m. Sunday in Ellisville with the men's championship to follow at 7:30 p.m. The women's winner will then host LSU-Eunice in the Region XXIII Tournament on Oct. 27 while the winner will host LSU-E and the MACJC in the Region XXIII Tournament on Oct. 27-28.
Tournament admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students with a valid ID and children five and under are admitted free. Tournament programs will be available for $2.
