GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College women's basketball returns eight players from last year's team which made an appearance in MACJC State Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs, who went 10-13 overall and 6-6 in the North Division, went into the MACJC State Tournament as the North No. 4 and fell to Jones in the opening round.
Returning players include: Kamelia Lacy (5'6 guard from Lexington), Vaquela Pimpton (5'8 guard from Webb), MiKayla Patton (5'11 forward from Florence), Aneisha Evans (5'8 guard from Gluckstadt), Nina Carpenter (6'4 center from Las Vegas, Nev.), Nhamia Wilson (5'8 guard from Tchula), Tyaira Wilson (5'10 forward from Jackson) and Brittany Webster (6'1 center from Lexington). Newcomers include: Jalisia Lipsey (5'5 guard from Pickens), Christina Harris (5'6 guard from Grenada), Myeisha Robinson (5'5 guard from Grenada), Ja'Breonia Veasey (5'7 guard from Little Rock, Ark.), Janae Collier (5'8 guard/forward from Pelahatchie) and Jonja'Nay Spivey (6'2 center from Forest).
Lacy and Pimpton averaged double figures last season for the Lady Bulldogs. Lacy averaged 10.4 ppg while Pimpton averaged 10.2 ppg. Carpenter averaged 6.4 rebounds per game while Patton had 5.7 rpg and Webster had 4.9 rpg. Pimpton led the team in steals and assists with 1.3 steals per game and 2.1 assists per game.
The season opens at Copiah-Lincoln on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. The home schedule starts on Monday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. versus Baton Rouge.
