Five Bulldogs to play in MACJC All-Star Game March 27

The state's top sophomore JUCO basketball players will have an opportunity to showcase their talents when the annual MACJC All-Star Basketball Games are held Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at East Central Community College in Decatur.

Women's action begins at 5 p.m. and will be followed by the men's contest at 7 p.m. in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building.

Admission is $5 per person for the NJCAA-sanctioned event.

Named to the South Division All-Star women's squad are Ja'Monica Orton, East Central; Lauren Douglas, Alecia Autman and Terrenisha Hollis, all of Jones County; Kenya Wright, Hinds; Ricille Davis and Delainna Lyons, both of Gulf Coast; Shaniece Sheffield, Southwest; Toy Johnson and Branita Malone, both of Pearl River; and Jasmine James and Keosha Bradley, both of Copiah-Lincoln.

Melanie Stone of Gulf Coast will serve as head coach.

North Division women All-Stars are Kierra Gilmore, Dierra Gilmore and Louise Collins, all of Holmes; Anna Brooke Page, Northeast; Chadisty Hickman, East MS; Dayana McGee and Ciara Morgan, both of Coahoma; Jameilka Hoskins, Vechatita Bonner and LaPrecious Naylon, all of Itawamba; Calmetta Greyer, Delta; and Erica Turner, Northwest.

Nancy Gray of Itawamba will serve as head coach.

Selected on the South Division men's All-Star team are Jimmie Broomfield, East Central; Guy Payne, Ice Asortse and Justin Childs, all of Gulf Coast; Cory Lacy and Michael Hall, both of Southwest; Kelvin Nixon, Jones County; Yondarious Johnson, Daron Bell and Zane Knowles, all of Pearl River; Jake Reed, Copiah-Lincoln; and Trevis Thomas, Hinds.

Wendell Weathers of Gulf Coast will serve as head coach.

North Division men All-Stars are Everick Morris and Darius Woods, both of Northwest; Deangelo Priar and Emmanuel Dias, both of Holmes; Rashard Harris and Cortavious Vaughn, both of Coahoma; Jermaine Hollimon and Cedric Janes, both of Northeast; Deon Bedford, East MS; Marius Myles, Itawamba; and LaQuavius Cotton and Kwahmere Gredric, both of  Delta. 

ECCC assistant Matt Riley will serve as head coach.
