Lady Bulldogs split with Lady Tigers; honor sophomores in Ark. State doubleheader

BOONEVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs split two games with the Northeast Mississippi Community College Lady Tigers here Wednesday. Holmes won 6-2 in game one and fell 7-5 in game two.

Brooklyne Eubanks got the win in game one. She went 4 1/3 innings and gave up one run on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Katie Lawrence picked up the save going 2 2/3 innings. She gave up one run on three hits with one strikeout. Madison Fields, Jana Newell and Abby Bouslay each had two hits with Newell, Courtney Hatcher and Madison Womble each having a double.

In game two, Allison Irby suffered the loss. She went five innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Juliet Warriner went one inning and gave up one run on one hit. Fields, Hatcher and Aubree McWilliams each had two hits with Newell, Hatcher and Cailee Arender each adding a double.

In games versus Arkansas State, the Lady Bulldogs split two games losing 9-7 and winning 6-2.

In game one, Juliet Warriner took the loss. She went four innings and gave up four runs on four hits with one strikeout and two walks. Kaitlyn Warren, Madison Frazier and Brooklyne Eubanks also pitched in the game. Warren went one inning and gave up three runs on two hits while Frazier went 2/3 of an inning and gave up two runs on two hits while Eubanks went 1 1/3 innings and gave two hits. Courtney Hatcher led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a three-run homerun. Madison Fields, Jana Newell, Emily Littlejohn, Avery Thornton, Madison Womble and Becca Kennedy had two hits each with Newell and Littlejohn adding a double.

In game two, Katie Lawrence picked up the win. She went four innings and gave up two hits with two strikeouts. Allison Irby went three innings and gave up two runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Newell, Aubree McWilliams and Joie Smith each had two hits with Newell and McWilliams having a double while Madison Womble added a triple.

In games versus Hinds on April 13, the Lady Bulldogs fell 4-1 and 4-0.

In game one, Katie Lawrence suffered the loss. She went five innings and gave up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Brooklyne Eubanks went two innings and gave up one hit and had one strikeout. Cailee Arender had a double.

In game two, Allison Irby went seven innings and gave up 12 hits with four runs. She had three strikeouts and one walk.
