RAYMOND --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs and the Hinds Community College Eagles went to two extra time periods here Tuesday evening, but neither team could pull out the victory as the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The tie, however, secured the North Division title for the Bulldogs for the second year in a row.
With the win, the Bulldogs went to 5-2-1 in the North Division and 11-3-1 overall and put the Bulldogs in a tiebreaker with East Central Community College. The Bulldogs will be the North Division No. 1 seed in the MACJC State Tournament which begins on Saturday at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville. Holmes is set to play the South Division No. 2 Jones Bobcats at 1 p.m. while the North Division No. 2 East Central Warriors will play the South Division No. 1 Pearl River Wildcats.
Hinds took the lead in the 65th minute on a goal from Mario Rosales. The Bulldogs answered the goal in the 72nd minute on a goal from Zach Martin on an assist from James Cockrell. Neither team was able to score in the two overtime periods.
