Bulldogs finish the season 5-4 with a 49-3 win over Coahoma
GOODMAN --- Holmes Community College used a three-touchdown performance from Jacorie Ousley and a two-touchdown performance from Dennis Robertson to roll past the Coahoma Community College Tigers, 49-3, on Armed Forces Appreciation Night here Thursday night.
With the win, the Bulldogs finished the season 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the North Division. The Bulldogs, decked out in camoflauge jerseys, put on a show for the veterans on hand with an outstanding pregame and halftime presentation. Proceeds from last night's game will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
Holmes waste no time getting on the scoreboard in the first quarter as Ousley took the opening kickoff back 84 yards for a touchdown. Stephan Lloyd's kick gave the Bulldogs the early 7-0 lead.
After a Tiger punt, the Bulldogs mounted another scoring drive and went up 14-0 after Ousley raced in from 19 yards out. Lloyd's kick was again good with 12:13 to play in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs mounted a scoring drive from midfield late in the first quarter. Antwan Bulley found the endzone from a yard out with 4:07 to play in the quarter. Lloyd's kick was good to put the Bulldogs up 21-0.
Holmes continued on the scoring barrage in the second quarter when they started a drive at the Bulldog 38. A 38-yard pass from Robertson to Quardarius Armour from the Coahoma 42 to the Tiger four put the Bulldogs within striking distance once again. Robertson called his own number from the four to put the Bulldogs up 28-0 with 11:30 to play in the first half after Llloyd's kick was good.
Coahoma got their only points of the night with 2:33 left in the first half when Jonathan O'Hara hit a 27-yard field goal. The play was set up by a 53-yard run by Quantavious Perterson from the Coahoma 35 to the Holmes 12.
With seven seconds to play in the half, Shaquan Holmes blocked an O'Hara punt and Willie Sherman picked the ball up and raced in for the touchdown. Lloyd's kick ended first half scoring at 35-3 Holmes.
Ousley added his third touchdown with 4:44 left in the third quarter after the Bulldog defense stopped the Tigers at their own 42 yard line. On the first offensive play, Ousley raced in for the touchdown. Lloyd's kick made the score 42-3.
The final score of the night for the Bulldogs came with 5:35 left in the game when Robertson scored from a yard out on fourth and goal. Lloyd's kick was good.
Ousley finished the game with 109 yards on 10 carries and two rushing touchdowns. Robertson was 12-of-17 for 154 yards. The Bulldogs finished with 386 yards on the night.
