Assistant Coach Ryan Beggs begins his sixth year as assistant baseball coach for the Bulldogs.
Since Coach Beggs' arrival at Holmes, nine pitchers have gone on to play Division I baseball along with five in Division II and four in the NAIA. Three pitchers have been selected All-Region XXIII while five pitchers have been selected All-State. Wil Browning signed as a free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012.
Coach Beggs came to Holmes from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where he was the pitching coach. During his stint at Gulf Coast his team captured three South Division titles and six consecutive regional appearances. Thirteen pitchers went on to play DI, six pitchers DII, and four pitchers were drafted by Major League Baseball teams. Beggs holds both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in physical education from the University of New Mexico. Playing for the University of New Mexico, NCAA Division I, Mountain West Conference from 1993-1998, he was selected Academic All-Conference player three times. During the summers of 1999-2000 he was the pitching coach for the Harrisonburg Turks with his team winning the Valley League Title in 2000. From 1998-2002 he was the pitching coach for the University of New Mexico, NCAA Division I, Mountain West Conference.
During his summers from 2001-08 Beggs was the pitching coach for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The Gatemen captured titles in 2001 and 2002. He coached numerous pitchers who were drafted by Major League baseball.
